Banglamung police, Pattaya, conducted a successful sting operation on July 20, 2008, duping a woman trafficker from Chonburi province into selling them Yah Bah (amphetamines). The suspect later confessed to having sold Yah Bah for some considerable time and also admitted being heavily addicted to the drug.

At 00.20 a m, on July 20, a drug suppression team led by Pol.Lt.Col. Samrit Khunchit, Deputy Superintendent, Banglamung, persuaded the woman trafficker, Mrs. Gung, that they were a gang of drug users and made an arrangement to rendezvous at 331, Moo 5, Ta-kean-tea, Banglamung, to buy 3 bags of Yah Bah from her for Bt27,000. The police officers were in plain clothes and most hid in wait for the woman.

Mrs. Gung, aka Nopamas Orn-sri-thong, (35) from Bang-pla-soi, Mueng, Chonburi, arrived in a pickup truck driven by a member of her gang, with others riding in the rear, to deliver the Yah Bah. Police managed to arrest Mrs. Gung with the evidence of 3 bags of Yah Bah, containing 580 tablets, but the other people in the pickup sensed all was not well and drove away at speed.

Police took Mrs. Gung to the police station for a urine test, which proved positive, coming out purple. Mrs. Gung confessed that she had been selling Yah Bah for quite some time. She apparently normally had friends from the same drugs ring drive her around Chonburi province delivering the drugs.

She admitted that, besides selling the drugs, she was also heavily addicted to Yah Bah. Initially, police charged her with possessing and illegally consuming a category 1 drug. She was then taken to Banglamung police station for further investigation to discover the identity of the other gang members and affect their arrest.
