Police Colonel Sutin, the Superintendent of Pattaya Police Station was called in to oversee a case of armed theft which had taken place at a Pawn Shop in Soi Tepprasit 7 in Jomtien on Monday Night. Police were met by the shopkeeper, Khun Sitichai aged 47, who explained that he had been handcuffed and a spicy red sauce had been thrown in his eyes during the theft of nearly 500,000 Baht’s worth of items.

The owner of the shop is Khun Wichan who soon arrived and explained that although the shop had 3 CCTV Cameras, the tape had run out and the cameras were not activated.

Khun Sitichai explained that as he was preparing to close the shop, two men on a motorbike pulled up outside and a White Car with three people inside also parked in front of the shop but they remained in their vehicle. The two men, armed with guns, entered the shop and handcuffed the shopkeeper to the refrigerator door handle and then threw a red hot sauce into his eyes. Within 5 minutes, 50,000 Baht’s worth of Gold items, 30 second hand mobile phones, 15 digital cameras, 30 watches, and 20,000 Baht in cash were taken.

Police did arrest one man, later in the night who was in possession of a firearm, identified as Khun Wichai aged 35. However, he was found not to be involved in this case. With limited clues and no forensic evidence, Police will do their best to arrest the two men and recover the stolen items but they have informed the shop owner that the chances of doing this are slim.
