Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanatat from Pattaya Police Station made his way to a Shophouse located on Pattaya Third Road in the early hours of Monday Morning to investigate a suspected suicide which had just taken place at the location. Police arrived and were met by the distraught parents and wife of the suicide victim, Khun Teerapong aged 35, a former motorbike racing champion who was forced to retire from the sport after an accident which left him with a steel plate in his leg.

The incident occurred in a food preparation area at the rear of a restaurant located on the Ground Floor. On Sunday Night, the victim remained on the ground floor after his parents and wife had gone to sleep. He had spent the night drinking beer and was in a depressed state after a recent accident left him with problems with his steel plate.

According to his wife of 12 years, Khun Samawadee aged 32, since he retired from motor-racing in 2003, he had suffered from acute depression and drank heavily on a daily basis. On Sunday Night everyone at the location was awoken by the sound of a gun shot coming from the ground floor. Moments later the body of the victim was discovered.

A gun belonging to the victim was on the floor next to Khun Teerapong who had shot himself in the right side of his head. The suicide was confirmed by Police and the body was taken for forensic tests before the case is closed.
